Privacy Policy
Nordfolio’s calculators run entirely in your browser. The figures you enter are never sent to us, and there is no account to attach them to.
Scope
This policy explains what information nordfolio.net collects, why, who else can see it, and what you can do about it. It covers this website only. It does not cover any site you reach by following a link from here.
Nordfolio is operated by the Nordfolio Team. Questions about this policy, or a request to see or correct information we hold about you, can be sent to privacy@nordfolio.net.
What you type into a calculator stays in your browser
Every calculator on this site computes in your browser. The salary, mortgage balance, contribution amount, or account value you enter is never transmitted to a Nordfolio server, because there is no server-side calculation to transmit it to. We do not receive it, log it, or store it, and there is no account to attach it to.
One consequence is worth knowing: results are made shareable by encoding your inputs into the page address. If you copy that address and send it to someone, or paste it somewhere public, the figures travel with it. The link is the only way your inputs leave your device, and only if you choose to share it.
Server logs
Delivering a web page requires a server, and our hosting provider keeps standard access logs of the requests it serves. A log entry typically records an IP address, the page requested, the referring page, browser and device type, and a timestamp.
These logs exist to deliver the site, keep it available, and diagnose faults and abuse. We do not use them to build a profile of you, we do not combine them with any other source, and we do not sell or rent them. Retention is governed by the hosting provider's own schedule.
Cookies and tracking
Nordfolio sets no cookies. We run no analytics product, we embed no social media widgets, and we load no fonts, scripts, or images from third-party servers. Loading a page on this site makes no request to any company other than the one hosting it.
This will change if we introduce display advertising, which is disclosed on our disclosures page as a planned source of funding. Advertising cannot be enabled without this policy changing at the same time to describe the cookies involved, because the two are generated from the same configuration.
Affiliate links
Some pages may carry links to financial services companies that pay us if you open an account with them. Those links are labelled where they appear, and the arrangement is described in full on our disclosures page.
Following such a link takes you to that company's own site, where its privacy policy applies. It may set a cookie to attribute the referral. We are told only that a referral occurred; we do not receive your name, your application, or any information about your account.
Where information is processed
Information described in this policy may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in the United States. While outside Canada it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities there under those laws.
Canadian privacy law does not require this information to stay in Canada, but it does require us to tell you that it may not. Given that the site holds no accounts and receives none of your calculator inputs, what is at stake here is server log data rather than anything you have entrusted to us.
Your rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask that it be deleted. Write to privacy@nordfolio.net. In practice the honest answer to most such requests is that we hold nothing identifying you beyond hosting logs, which are not indexed by person and cannot be searched by name.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy question, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Children
This site is general financial reference material intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
This policy was last updated on 2026-08-04. If we change what we collect or who receives it, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect, not after.
